Choosing the right Electric Fence Energiser: Choosing the right energiser for electric fencing depends on a variety of factors

Mains Energisers: It is always advisable, where possible, to use a mains-powered electric fence energiser inside a building. This will usually reduce the running costs (usually below £20.00pa), there are no batteries to run flat and there is less chance of it being damaged by animals.
Dry Battery Energisers – 6v and 9v: For temporary fencing, especially strip grazing and short fences, you will find that Dry Battery Energisers are ideal. Use an energiser with an internal battery. These batteries are lightweight and highly portable, they take very little maintenace and can last between 1 and 6 months before needing replace. Please note - these batteries cannot be recharged.
Wet Battery Energisers – 12v: For semi-permanent electric fencing (or those that require moving infrequently) and where there is no access to mains power then select a 12v energiser along with a 12v, 75 Ampere Hour (Ah) leisure battery. The higher the Ah the longer the battery can run between being recharged. These batteries can typically operate longer electric fences as they are usually more powerful than dry battery alternatives.
Solar Charged Battery Energisers: Solar charged battery powered electric fence energisers are best used in semi-permanent or temporary set-ups such as strip grazing or short fences. They are lightweight, easy to move and require almost no maintenance.
