A fly rug (also known as a fly sheet or bug rug) is a very lightweight fine mesh horse rug that provides protection during the summer to horse at grass from biting flies and insects. Most of our fly rugs also have a belly flap that fastens at either side of the horse rug and provides additional protection for your horse. Many of our fly sheets also include a permanent or detachable neck cover for that head-to-tail level of protection. In addition to protection from biting flies, a fly rug can also provide protection against sunburn on horses that have sensitive/pale skin as well as keeping the coat dust and dirt free and preventing bleaching of the coat from the sun.

When choosing a fly rug you should always go as lightweight as possible so your horse is not too warm underneath while finding one that suits your horses specific needs.
